BCAA's - Branched Chain Amino Acids.

BCAA's - Branched Chain Amino Acids.

BCAA, amino acid, l-leucine l-valine l-isoleucine.

Description: These branched chain essential amino acids (BCAA) are known as the stress amino acids. Thirty percent of the diet should be proteins when the body is under severe stress, because stress causes protein to break down faster. BCAAs have regulatory effects on overall protein metabolism and are required in larger amounts during stress than are other amino acids (and probably proportionately more leucine than either valine or isoleucine). Furthermore, when given as supplements, BCAAs decrease the rate of breakdown and utilisation of other amino acids and stimulate protein synthesis. Therefore these BCAAs are useful in conditions of stress caused by trauma, surgery, liver failure, infection, fever, starvation, muscle training and weight lifting. BCAAs are unique in that skeletal muscles can use them directly as an energy source.

Why do you need BCAA?
Do you take BCAA as dietary supplement? This group of aminoacids is working to maintain muscle tissue, they also needed during physical stress and intense exercise.
How many grams of Bcaa's that we need in a day? whether you really need?
I also imagine, if what I get from the whey is not enough, it might be cheaper to just take more whey or you favorite protein shake than buying tablets BCAA .

Do we need BCAA supplementation? I always got this question whenever I meet new students in a my classes, in short I answer that it depend on the eating, if people eat enough protein and good quality of them they will also got enough BCAA's which mean don’t need to take BCAA supplement sparately. Also, if you take a good amount of protein shake per day you will find that it also contents BCCA’s, but the content may not higher as the BCAA tablet.
There may be some accumulating evidence now that supports the idea that orally-ingested BCAAs have an anti-catabolic effect during and after exercise. But again, there is nothing in the scientific literature that shows that these BCAAs must be supplied in a separate form from whole food.
There may be some relationship BCAA and fatigue of low intensity, long-term exercise.
What is BCAA's bioquimical simple words talking:

BCAA, Branched chain amino acids, are usually use by athletes and people who practice sports in high intensity, it seem people believe BCAA has the ability Enhancing exercise or athletic performance.

BCAA is work and effective for one of the following:
  • BCAA Improving muscle control and mental function in people with advanced liverdisease (latent hepatic encephalopathy).
  • BCAA Reducing muscle breakdown during exercise.
  • BCAA Decreasing symptoms associated with mania.
  • BCAA Reducing movements associated with tardive dyskinesia, a disorder associated with the use of antipsychotic medications.
  • BCAA Reducing loss of appetite and improving nutrition in elderly patients on hemodialysis.

And the conclusion is :
BCAAs are great as a pre workout supplement, especially if taken with a good amount
carbohydrates (not recommended if you are in a plan of reduce your fat). Regular protein drinks or other high quality protein will work well for the rest of the day if they have a good amount of BCAA inside.
